Construction Craft Worker / Labourer

As a construction craft worker / labourer, you’ll assist skilled tradespersons and handle labouring tasks on construction sites, such as preparing and cleaning sites, moving materials and equipment, and performing demolition and excavation. You may work on sewer and water mains, roads, dams, bridges and railways for contractors and road builders.

Typical responsibilities

Load, unload and move construction materials and equipment
Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
Assist and signal heavy equipment operators
Assist in pipeline construction operations
Level earth to fine grade specifications
Assist in demolishing buildings
Remove rubble and other debris
Operate pneumatic equipment
Tend or feed construction equipment
Clean up spills
Direct traffic

Math is used across the skilled trades. You may work with decimals, fractions, measurements, conversions, area and volume to plan work, calculate materials, monitor operations and troubleshoot.
