Project Background
This innovative program provides financial and training incentives for unionized Canadian contractors who hire, onboard, train and retain skilled trades first-year apprentices. With a focus on the Red Seal construction trades, the program is designed to deliver services and supports to help contractors obtain further support for their apprentices. This includes help in progressing through training and finding and retaining employment.
The program also provides venues, channels and resources to bring together key stakeholders in apprenticeship, address long-standing and complex challenges that limit apprenticeship outcomes and help break down barriers facing first-year apprentices to ensure greater apprenticeship success.
